Two

Title: Two
Materials: Acrylic on Masonite
Size: 24 x 48 in.
Year: 2007

Lately my pieces have been getting larger. Usually due to a small work space, I stay away from starting any project too large. I do love a large painting that can engulf the room though. This piece was made for my husband's music room. It didn't seem that large when I was working on it, but when I hung it in the small room, it really took over the space. At the same time though, it allows you to really experience the texture of it, which was made with modeling paste. This texture resembles the bark of a tree, and people have a hard time keeping their fingers off of it. I know every time I go in there, I find a new smooth or rough place to experience. Click on the picture to enlarge it and experience the texture for yourself.

Black Trees

Title: Black Trees
Medium: Acrylic on Masonite
Size: 18 x 24 in.

Here is a piece I had in a show at The Art Center in St. Petersburg this past September. It reminds of a piece of tapestry but the design takes on a new free-flowing life in paint.
